You know what? I am ridiculously excited about my Hen Do. I actually knew what I wanted to do waaaaaaaaaaaaay before I started planning it. I booked the date back in November, a whole seven months before the Do!
Want to know what I’ve got up my *bridal* sleeve?! Of course you do!
Like many of you, I love a good trawl through any charity shop to snap up some undiscovered thrifty gems. This week, I found two!
I don’t do New Years Resolutions as I ultimately fail to keep them! Instead, I’m going to set myself some mini missions for this year. I want to continue to use this blog to document my journey through crafting and also the minor matter of our wedding in September! My missions for this year are *drum roll*…
Befriend my sewing machine
I am now the proud owner of two sewing machines. One is a little red one that The Boy bought me, which I have used for taking up almost all of my trousers (short legs!) I’ve recently been given my late Aunt’s sewing machine which I want to get the most out of. I will learn how to use the machine confidently and make at least one item of clothing myself.
Meet local crafters
Pretty much self explanatory isn’t it?!
Furnish the house with handmade items
We’ve just moved house and it is the house of cream. Every wall is cream, the carpets are brown. It is screaming out for colour and personality! I shall be on a quest to inject colour, joy and a sense of homeliness (totally just made that word up) into the house.
Produce as much as possible handmade for wedding
We get married in just under eight months and something that is really important to us is that our day is a true reflection of us. We’re not particularly sticking with tradition, if we are it isn’t because we feel forced to, it’ll be our own choice. Part of what this means to us is to do as much of it ourselves as we can. We want people to come to our wedding and be able to say ‘this is 100% them’. So we are determined to do as much DIY for our wedding as we can.
There you have it, my first missions for 2012. If I smash these then I may make some more, you never know, I may like setting myself goals!
Deary me, it has been a while since I’ve updated you on our wedding plans. I shall remedy that right away! Be prepared to be updated…
Let’s get straight into this week’s mentions:
Happy Monday! Welcome to a new weekly feature on my blog – Monday Mentions. I’m going to share with you some things that have caught my attention throughout the previous week that I think are pretty awesome.
Let’s get started…
I thought I’d share with you my five favourite blogs. This idea is shamelessly stolen from the lovely Fiona over at The corner of the internet I call home, who wrote a top seven list a while ago.
These blogs are the ones I enjoy reading, sometimes commenting on but definitely ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ over them.
Without further ado, and in no particular order, I give you, my top five… Continue reading
Today is very exciting – my first ever guest post has been published! The awesome Fiona over at her blog, The Corner of the Internet I Call Home has gone and got herself married so she asked if I would contribute a post to cover her whilst she is naturally occupied with other things.
I jumped at the chance, and you can read my post, which is all about having a crafty wedding, here.
Hope you enjoy reading it, let me know what you think!
Where do you stand on the subject of mail order wedding dresses?
I would REALLY appreciate your advice/tales/opinions!
Hope you had a great weekend? Mine was spent at an auction in Tring, a trip to try on some wedding dresses, crochet and embroidery (told you I would become obsessed!)
